How to Make Decorative Orbs from Embroidery Hoops

Sharing is caring!

What does mid-February make you think of? Unique and Easy Metallic Orbs? Me too 😉

Listen…sometimes, you just need a simple, metallic, shiny craft to get you through the winter, amiright? Alright – so let’s make these orbs 🙂

Here’s what you need:

Ummm…. that’s it! Told you it was easy!

First thing is to unscrew your hoops and separate the middle pieces – so from two, you now have four. See?Put embroidery hoops together to make orbs

Then just put one middle piece inside the other middle piece and then one of the outside pieces over top of that – it will already look like an orb. Then finish it off with the last outside piece. Structure it so that your orb has an ‘equator’ around the middle and perpendicular to that too. See?DIY Silver Orbs

Now paint! I was going to paint these by hand and then assemble – but if you use metallic spray paint, it’s easy to do them when they are all put together.Embroidery Hoop Orbs Spray Painted Silver

These puppies retail for about $20-$40 depending on where you see them, but these knock-offs cost me a grand total of $10 for two. Not too shabby for a gal who rotates her decor frequently 🙂Easy way to decorate with metallicsSpray Painted Orbs
