25 Brilliant Geometric Lamps and How to Find the Lamps for You

Sharing is caring!

Is a bagillion a real number? If so, that’s almost how many questions we had about our brand new geometric lamps that are now flanking our couch in our living room. I am loathe to say this …but, the store we bought them at is a) Canadian only and b) they are now out of stock. I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I know they are pretty much the best lamps ever.

So, to make it up to ALL of you, I found a nearly identical lamp at Target! Here is the Target version. It can be yours for $25!  WHOOHOOO!! 🙂 Screen Shot 2016-06-10 at 5.49.27 PM

Lamps can be a tough thing to get right and believe me, I’ve had a few lamp blunders that I’ve learned from along the way. I’ve listed my top four tips in this post (scroll down a bit for those.) But first…can we just oogle and ogle the LAMP LOVE? I couldn’t stop with just that one find from Target… I kept going – because Lamps. Geometric Lamps are my jam right now!

In honour of all things lamp, I’ve rounded up 25 BRILLIANT GEOMETRIC LAMPS!

Alright, now that you’ve seen some awesome lamps – here are my top four tips for choosing the right lamp for you and your space!

Try to Buy in Pairs – I know, guys. Cool lamps can be pricey. But there’s nothing worse than trying to create symmetry in a room with a lamp you love and not having its pair. Trust me. I’ve made this mistake and it hurts every time. Just buy the pair. You’ll thank me when you go to style a buffet, fauxdenza, bedroom or anything else that naturally requires balance 🙂

Always consider Eye Level – This is often overlooked when considering lamps, but it’s a lesson I helped my Mother with recently in her living room! She has a gorgeous mossy green low profile sofa (I covet it so badly, it’s almost sinful), and initially had table lamps flanking it with the shade pointing down to the ground.

We determined her amazing shutter-clad windows (that are behind the couch) weren’t being showcased enough because the top of the room felt dark. I suggested she replace her downward pointing lamps with a pair of large scale lamps to illuminate the area above the couch and draw the eye upward. Wouldn’t you know? The room looks totally transformed and she has had many compliments on her lamps! Here are her lamps and her tables.

Be aware of the Direction of the Light – Sort of like watching the height of your light, you’ll want to be sure you’re directing light where it needs to go. For example, spotlights are great for late night reading and wall sconces in bedrooms – but aren’t ideal for creating cozy intimate lighting in seating areas. For living spaces, you’ll want to make sure the shade allows light to disperse from the bottom and the top of the shade to give you a nice warm glow. *Cue the Barry White music*

Make sure to test the scale – No, don’t put your lamps on a scale 🙂 But make sure your lamps are substantial enough to hold their own in a space. This was a mistake I made when I brought home (what I thought) were two perfect mottled glass lamps from HomeSense for our fauxdenza. As soon as I had them on there, I realized they just didn’t do well with the large elements in the room. They got lost and looked too dinky. That’s why I replaced them with the geometric beauties I have now which are about 22″ tall and 12″ wide.
