Making a Moscow Mule {Happy Hour at Home VIDEO}

Our Blog

A super simple recipe for making a Moscow Mule cocktail at home – plus a video tutorial!

As part of my commitment to rediscovering the true meaning behind DIY Passion, I’m super excited to be launching a new series today! On the second Monday of the month, I will be posting Happy Hour at Home and sharing a DIY drink mix recipe! This month, I’m tackling the Moscow Mule.How to Make a Moscow Mule

I decided to start this after two things magically came together – for one, I had a very unexpectedly positive response to my Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate recipe. I stuck my neck out and shared a recipe – and people liked it! What? haha Secondly, since Little Bird was born, Dan and I rarely get out anymore. We used to enjoy going out for dessert and a cocktail or a quick appetizer and a glass of wine for a fun date night, but now, our date nights consist of two cans of sparkling water and a homemade meat loaf. Nothing wrong with that, but we thought it’d be fun to have date night at home at least once a month.

When you’re new parents, finding even 15 minutes a week to slow down and connect over something fun and decidedly frivolous is so important – dare I say, it’s even romantic. Plus, it is really helping us learn how to mix fun drinks for when we start having friends over to the house again. (Soon… anyone have any ideas for how we can pull off a board game tournament for adults who all have babies and toddlers? I still haven’t. Kids are needy man… lol)

And so, this series was born! I’ve also decided to make this a video series because … well, just because it’s more fun lol (You can subscribe to my YouTube Channel here! I’d love to have you over there!)

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Moscow Mule:Ginger Beer in a Moscow Mule

  • 1-1.5 ounces of vodka (per serving, basically one shot for a single)
  • 1/2 cup – 3/4 cup of ginger beer
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • lime wedges
  • ice
  • Moscow Mule Mugs (optional, but OH SO FUN!)Copper Moscow Mule Mugs

Here are the directions. Ready? Are you really ready to make your own Moscow Mule and enjoy this deliciously cold-hot beverage that has nothing whatsoever to do with Russia? (Like seriously… I highly doubt they can even grow limes in Moscow…haha)Limes in a Moscow Mule

Mix it all together. Top with lime wedge and ice. Bottoms up!

If you have any suggestions for cocktail recipes we should try, please let me know! I’m always open to try new things and share them with you 🙂
