Inside: A deliciously simple recipe for Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate! Using leftover ingredients or pantry staples you already have on hand.
Is it just me? Or is it taking a while to get back into the swing of things this year? Boy. With the holidays, the winter weather setting in, family coming to visit and being home with Little Bird – I’m struggling to find routine these days. I know we’ll get there, but right now, if I can find even five minutes to sit and chill out – I take them! Some days, when I’m feeling particularly burned out, I love to curl up with a cup of peanut butter hot chocolate. I know, right?
It’s like all the best bits of a peanut butter cup … in an actual CUP! In fact, I did it today with my new favorite book and used Little Bird’s nap time to plot out some exciting new things coming to the blog 🙂
How to make Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
This will make one big mug of hot chocolate or two smaller servings. And listen, this isn’t one of those low-calorie posts or anything. If you know me, you know that I don’t really bake or cook that way – I mean, just have a look at my homemade Hoho cupcakes, my Holiday Pull Apart Bread or my latest favorite Pillsbury Dough turned into sweet Monkey Bread.
First things first, reserve a small amount of chocolate chips, and melt the rest in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Add your milk to the melted chocolate and keep stirring. Once that’s fully incorporated, add in your peanut butter and stir the mixture until it’s nice and smooth.
Pour it into your mugs and top with whipped cream, using the reserved chocolate chips for garnish!
This would be amazing to serve at a family gathering or as a kids table treat! You could probably add some creamy nutella if you really wanted to be fancy, or even a mint patty to give it some extra holiday kick.
I wonder if it would work with other nut butters? Let me know if you try that. I love almond butter, but it might be too oily? Not sure.
