Christmas day is less than a week away! What a wild ride this season has been.Β π We were so thrilled to be asked to participate in this week’s blog hop by Emily from Table & Hearth. Not only is this our first real Christmas decorating a house, but this is our first real home tour as well!
We never really have a lot of cash to spend on fancy Christmas decks and we also don’t have lots of spots to store them for the other 11 months of the year, so our decorations tend to be simple and pulled directly from nature (aka our back yard or the nearby beach)… Hop on! Hope you like our tour.Β π And don’t forget, for more amazing Christmas inspiration check out all the other links at the bottom of our post – we are the last stop, but this train goes both ways.Β π
Let’s start in our teeny entry – otherwise known as ‘the hardest spot in our house to photograph ever and ever, forever, amen’.
Our cabinet is adorned with some simple tin tree tea lights and a wooden reindeer we bought while thrifting last year. We keep this area simple because a) it’s tiny and b) it tends to collect things like any front entry area.

Above it hangs our wood slice welcome banner and a paper flower wreath that was a big splurge at HomeSense this year. Isn’t it stunning? Not something that could be reasonably DIY’d. However, the easiest DIY of all time was wrapping glitter lights around a giant piece of driftwood and propping it up! Everyone in Nova Scotia should do this…Β π

Speaking of driftwood, just around the corner by our cookbook shelf, the stockings are hung by some antlered deer – another purchase from HomeSense this year. We thought about buying fancy stockings, but these are the stockings we bought for our first Christmas living together. We didn’t have two cents to rub together and these guys were all we could afford. I think we should keep them.Β π
When I put them out though, they looked really bare. So I just laced in some of my driftwood collection and pinecones to beef it up a bit.

Moving into the living room, it speaks for itself. We moved the furniture around to accommodate the tree in the corner this year and we stuck to a very simple colour scheme – red and white!
Back in November, we hung some DIY red and white drapes and then over the last couple of weeks, we’ve added some DIY pillows, and the no-sew tree skirt. And that’s my DIY fur ottoman there too!
The far corner of the china cabinet is illuminated by the DIY hanging ornament chandelier. For a project that was so difficult – we do get quite a few compliments on it.Β π

Into the dining room, our buffet is adorned with some globe twinkle lights, snow flake candles, and our DIY holiday plate art.

On the far side, we moved part of our Hemnes cabinet from the living room to accommodate our tree in the living room.
Lastly, in the kitchen – there’s a little bit of bling in the corner with our little hot chocolate, coffee and tea station. We even decked out our DIY Herringbone Wood Shim back splash with some extra shiny ornaments.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
