Our Nautical Industrial Family Room | A Design Plan

Sharing is caring!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a restful time with friends and family. And if not (because we all know that happens sometimes), we hope that you’re ready to take some TLC time now. Did you catch our first post of the year? The one where we listed the big five projects we have planned for 2016? So crazy. So fun. So going to be full of DIYs 🙂

We really took the last couple of weeks to reflect on where we are, especially with the house and the blog and how we want to continue to tell our story. We have some fun projects on the go and we are excited to bring you along 🙂

And it starts today with our Mood Board for Our Nautical Industrial Family Room.

We have been talking about this room for what feels like FOR-EVER.  When we first moved in, all we did was paint three of the four walls white and the fourth wall was painted with leftover peacock blue paint. Since then, it’s been a hodge podge of leftover and mismatched furniture, bookcases and accessories.

One day, the vision just started to gel when Dan said “I think I’d like a cool brick wall.” Then, when we put up our Christmas tree, we moved one of our living room arm chairs into the family room – and we LOVED it. And so, our mood board was born. Nautical Industrial Family Room Design Plan

Source List (from top left): Studded Velveteen Pillow | Metallic base lamp | Basketweave Floor Poof | Grey Arm Chair | Family Photo Frame | Beige Sofa | Nautical Style Bookcase | Marble Top Coffee Table | Scribble Pattern Drapes | Bird Pattern Pillow | Pounded Metal Pendant Light Fixture | Contemporary Brick Pattern Wall Paper |  Wood Wall Clock

There are few items that we already have, like the couch (which is a discontinued Ikea design), the bookcases (which were a last minute purchase from Target) and the wall clock (purchased at our local market from a local designer).

Otherwise, I have plans to use this mood board to inspire a whole whack of DIYs! The pendant lamp, drapes, floor pouf, photo frames and coffee table are all being hatched right now!

Now let’s talk about that brick wall paper. Le. Love. I was super hesitant at first – but I have to say, we have already put it up as a feature wall in the space and I could not be happier. Watch for a full post on that coming soon!

I cannot wait 🙂

Thanks Corinna :) We LOVE our Ikea sofa for this space. It's the right blend of comfy and casual, with a little bit of edge. Sometimes, you just can't beat Ikea!
