Sooooo close to the finish line with this One Room Challenge! And while the past five weeks haven’t been without hiccups, I have to say this process has been more fun than not. Today, I want to focus a bit on the largest element of the room – the bed – and give you a couple peeks at some of the other accessories I’m starting to bring in. I am saving most of that for next week’s big reveal though!

For so long the bed in our room was just blah. No headboard, no real furniture, no matching bedding – nothing. I always just made sure the bedding was clean and tidy and that’s it. (In case you’re wondering, we settled on this navy-graphite headboard and furniture from this line) But now that we’re really making this a grown up and finished space, I figured I should invest in some great linens that will also enhance the vibe.
I wanted something airy, bright, easy to clean, soft and super versatile. I ended up with these soft, grey sheets from Stone Cottage. They are widely available at Target and other major bedding retailers. Honestly, I am a believer in good sheets. Maybe it’s all in my head, but I feel like I sleep better in nice ones!
The sheets are topped with a great pin-tuck style duvet cover from CityScene, which is also a brand widely available at places like Target. I wanted something white – but didn’t just want the duvet to look like a plain sheet – so the ribbing on this was just the ticket. I knew as soon as I saw it that it was the right choice for this room.
I don’t know about you, but I kinda like to keep my bedding really neutral so that I can switch up accessories and quilts seasonally. I will fully admit that in the winter, we end up with a duvet and two heavy blankets on our bed pretty much every night. Having a clean, neutral duvet cover makes that a little easier to handle.
I’ve topped the bed with some really fun toss cushions and a watery blue and aqua, boho-style quilt. I bought the quilt and a toss rug at HomeSense a while ago – and I really liked the way they looked together. (I found this similar hand-drawn geometric set and this periwinkle blue set as well). But when they were both in the space, it was too much. I loved the quilt more, so it’s staying for sure. And I’ve come up with a rug solution I think will work. But you’ll have to wait until next week to see that!
I’ve got a great piece of art for that spot on the wall beside the window. You can see I’ve already put the hook in place! The rest of the room is a hot mess right now. I’ve been slowly accumulating decor items that fit the colour scheme and just collecting them all on the dresser.
The final steps are a thorough clean, some art work, plants and blooms, decor….. and then nap! CANNOT forget the nap.
