Make your own Under Bed Rolling Storage Crates | Small Space Storage

DeclutterNursery

Inside: Build your own under bed storage to fit into a small space! Perfect for storing clothes and bed linens in small bedrooms or kids rooms.

We are always short on storage right? And after living with a tiny bedroom for most of my life, I learned that it’s crucial to maximize space as much as possible. One of the best spaces to use is under the bed. So here’s how I created my own under bed storage boxes! DIY Rolling Under Bed Storage Boxes

These function very much like drawers, but I’ve put them on wheels so they slide easily in and out. Mine are designed to be storage under a twin bed, but you can either build an additional box if you want to use the space under a queen or king sized bed or just increase the overall size of the boxes. If you don’t have a lot of space under your bed and still want to build the boxes, you can start with these $2 DIY Bed Risers.

In general, the same basic principles to building the boxes will apply.

  4. Attach the bottom pieces of wood after the frame has been been built. (This is where it's handy to use tongue and groove so you don't have a gap in the bottom of your drawer).Build an under bed drawer DIY
  5. Sand and stain your box in your colour of choice and allow it to thoroughly dry. Minwax Stain Close up
  6. Screw in your non swivel casters. Nonswivel caster close up Make sure they are all facing the same direction or it will be hard to pull your drawer in and out.
  7. Attach any hardware you want and add in your fabric liner if you're using that. Under bed storage lined with fabric

These storage boxes have worked so well in this room. They make the space under the bed look purposeful and useful! And it means I don’t always have to have a bed skirt because they look nice enough without one. DIY Under the Bed Storage Boxes
